A unique tune with dreamy keys and the use of voices as a dynamic percussive force, coupled with soulful lead vocals, puts Strumpet in an exceptional sound world all its own.
Dr. Omar Reid, professionally known as “Chenna,” is a singer, songwriter, and rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Chenna draws influences from different kinds of music like hip-hop/rap, R&B, and reggae to create this unique style of music.
He makes ‘Feel Music.’ His music explores the various emotional responses to relatable situations and often presents polarizing perspectives on the message and dynamic delivery of the song. Some people consider his music as ‘Emo Rap. Chenna’s music is available on all streaming platforms.
Clocking in at a little over 3 minutes, Strumpet had a chance to explore all facets of its classic RnB arrangement. There are parts of soulful, sedative, emotive singing that have not been put through loads of effects and retain an authentic human feel. The capture is intimate and close to the mic. The harmonies that boost these sections are smooth but harmonically angular, giving them an exotic feel.
Subby slabs of bass nail down the bottom end, while the beats of electronic drumming rain down on the chorus to elevate it with glare – enough to blast any amount of cobwebs away. A washy guitar part floats in the background.
Strumpet accomplished distinctly, and I imagine the vocal sessions alone must have taken a long time to write and organize. Remarkable and over far too soon.
